Carmeuse Americas Industrial Project Manager in Ottignies-Louvain-la-Neuve, Belgium
The Industrial Plant Designer supports the Carmeuse Europe Operations during the front-end stages of capital projects development by conducting technical survey, feasibility study and basic design of new or upgraded industrial plants.
Your responsibilities & tasks:
Project Design
Theprimary responsibility of the Designer is, in close collaboration with the project team (project manager, process engineer, client…) :
You conduct site and equipment surveys
You produce Feasibility studies (incl. capacity, key equipment identification, spatial/technology/utilities verifications…)
You support Basic Design studies (incl. layout and model, preliminary calculations and diagrams, equipment specifications…) to ensure continuity/efficiency/consistency in technical solutions.
The secondary tasks, as the Designer :
You establish and/or update Site Master Plan (space allocation, flows, capacities…) for selected plants
You participate in engineering companies (i.e. for subcontracted basic/detailed design) selection and follow-up.
On the long term, as the Designer, you will support the department development by :
Ensuring a comprehensive, categorized, and accessible repository of internal and market designs/solutions
Establishing design related engineering standards
Participating in project lessons learnt.
Main deliverables :
As the Designer, you must be able to produce:
Capacity / Mass Balance calculation
Preliminary PFDs
Key equipment list, datasheets, and integration to the design
Preliminary utilities/power loads and capacity
Preliminary layout arrangements
Technical alternatives comparison
Descriptive and report notes.
As the Designer, you must be able to instruct/review (or, as a plus, to produce):
P&IDs
Layouts and 3D models
Preliminary structural dimensioning
Preliminary mechanical arrangements
Bill of quantities/materials,
…
Your profile:
Basic Requirements
Bachelor or master’s engineering degree in process, mechanical, material science or civil
10 years of experience in industrial and/or engineering domain (i.e. process, project, production…) in lime, cement, minerals or heavy industrial processes
English : written & spoken fluently
Other foreign languages (from Carmeuse locations inside Europe) are a plus
Valid permit to work and driving license in Europe .
Willing to travel up to 30 % mostly inside Europe including Turkey.
Needed Knowledges
Will be considered as mandatory:
Knowledge of one or several of Carmeuse production (i.e. kiln, mill, screen, dedusting…) and stone handling (i.e. belt, screw, elevator, storages…) processes and equipment's
Multi-disciplinary and three-dimensional integration and design
Safety and operability/maintainability in design
MS Office software suite.
Will be considered as real plus:
2D/3D CAD modelling (Autocad or equivalent)
Mechanical and metallic structure dimensioning and design
Civil and infrastructure design
Basic knowledge of fluid networks & hydraulics (scheme diagrams, piping, consumptions…)
Basic knowledge of electrical/instrumentation engineering (single line diagrams, loads…).
