Read more at www.dsv.com Location: [[Streetsboro, OH]] Division:[[Solutions]] Job Posting Title: [[Logistics Engineer, Industrial]] Time Type: [[Salary]] SUMMARY The Industrial Engineer is responsible for designing and implementing common contract logistics processes and driving continuous performance improvement. This engineer may also provide engineering support for new and/or expanding business implementations. The Industrial Engineer will support multifaceted operations and have a detailed understanding of client needs. Industrial Engineer may contribute to the overall facility layout and design as well as determine appropriate equipment to support the concept of operational use. The Engineer will also routinely support the physical implementation of the solution. This role is also responsible for maintaining financial and engineering metrics that will meet or exceed performance goals. The Industrial Engineer may at times provide guidance and training to interns/Co-ops. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Research/Analysis: Ensures all distribution system functionality is configured to optimize performance (e.g., warehouse management, labor management, slotting and reporting applications) Utilizes work measurement techniques (predetermine time & motion / time studies / etc.) and analyzes work samples to develop standards for labor utilization Analyzes contractual commitments, customer specifications, design changes and other data to drive continuous improvement and meet or exceed expectations of customer Performs special research or technical studies critical to logistic support functions Performs cost/benefit tradeoff analysis and develop ROI business cases for recommended projects involving process, system or technology change Forecasts facility, vehicle, staffing and/or material handling equipment needs in order to improve cost, utilization, service, and efficiencies Conducts studies to determine the most efficient sequence of operations and workflow by analyzing production costs, process flow charts, and production schedules Recommends methods for maximizing the utilization of production facilities and personnel by restructuring job duties, reorganizing workflow, relocating workstations and equipment, and purchasing equipment in adherence with governmental, health, safety, and other regulations. Provides labor planning tool tailored to the client's business and agreed upon operating processes Documentation/Reporting: Document and communicate common processes for all distribution functions within scope of responsibility Review data and summarize expectations to address gaps in operation Identify areas for improvement based on analysis of data and observations Communication: Communicate opportunities for improvement in the distribution network Help determine key metrics and provide recommendations to guide management Assist with
