Applied Materials Software (Technical) Support Engineer II in Gloucester, Massachusetts
Key Responsibilities
Understand, research, and resolve internal and external application and systems issues of moderate difficulty. Independently learn and investigate customer's high value problem (HVP), systematic bug or systematic software failures.
Create, test, and verify installation/upgrade instructions for Applied Materials’ product releases.
Participates in product design, testing and documentation reviews as appropriate. Participate in user conferences.
Provide off-hours customer support via pager and cellular telephone as scheduled. Provide telephone coverage as scheduled.
Attend AMAT classes in designated product line and external classes for third-party software.
Provide on-going training to customers and customer engineers (CE) for technical products and systems issues.
Provide assistance in analysis of customer OS performance, integration and database management issues. Deliver updates and reports to managers, partners and peers.
Assist in training junior level engineers in departmental procedures, corporate procedures, and detailed product operation.

Typical Duties:
Team member for the Applied Materials – Software Support and Software Quality Assurance Department
Troubleshoots a variety of difficult software problems and interface with engineering teams to improve product quality.
Performs customer specific software testing and analysis on bugs and enhancements.
Control System Upgrade Support
Control system qualification for computer obsolescence
Test stand (computer) setup, imaging and support
Field & Floor SW Support
Troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve system/software issues and field escalations
Interface with customers, field/product support engineers
SW installs, upgrades, configuration management
Develop & publish training material for the Applied Materials – VSE engineering community
Skills Required:
Good communication skills … very responsive
Strong computer, software troubleshooting skills
Strong experience installing, configuring, imaging and testing computer systems & software
Creative, innovative with resolving issues … thinks outside the box
Enthusiasm with what he/she wants to learn and do (Science & Engineering passion)

Implanter experience a plus

U.S. Salary Range:
$64,000.00 - $88,000.00
The salary offered to a selected candidate will be based on multiple factors including location, hire grade, job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and with consideration of internal equity of our current team members. In addition to a comprehensive benefits package, candidates may be eligible for other forms of compensation such as participation in a bonus and a stock award program, as applicable.
For all sales roles, the posted salary range is the Target Total Cash (TTC) range for the role, which is the sum of base salary and target bonus amount at 100% goal achievement.
