Philips R&D Program Director - Infant Feeding and Soothing Solutions in Eindhoven, Netherlands

Join one of our key growth areas as the Mother & Child Care and Women’s Health Business, known with the brand Philips Avent. You will be a leading agent in shaping the future of the Infant Feeding and Soothing Solutions category, which encompasses a broad portfolio of market-leading infant feeding bottle and pacifier propositions for care at home and on-the-go from newborn up to toddlerhood.

As the Director, you will coordinate and oversee a complex set of ever-developing projects within R&D, ranging from New Product Introduction to lifecycle management initiatives to secure business growth, high quality, and a profitable and competitive portfolio. You are responsible for

  • Formulates the overall program plan for the Infant Feeding and Soothing Solutions category in consultation with Marketing, Operations, and other parties. You are responsible for the delivery and integration of the various functions across the organization, from upstream marketing to R&D and manufacturing, as well as post-market quality surveillance improvements within the boundaries of the assigned innovation budget.

  • Provides management and stakeholders with regular programs and projects performance status, variances to plan, and key risks and countermeasures action plans. Ultimately, be the accountable agent for Infant Feeding and Soothing Solutions R&D programs' success to be delivered On Scope, On Quality, On Time, and On Value.

  • Stay current with technical basics, lessons learned, and new technology to optimize each project's goals and maximize the synergy between them.

  • Provide feedback on Infant Feeding and Soothing Solutions allocated staff performance to the employees' hierarchical superiors for appraisal and conduct evaluation at the end of the projects.

  • As a member of the R&D Leadership Team, actively contribute to engagement activities across your team and the innovation team at large.

You are in a matrix organization as a single contributor, reporting to the Head of R&D. You will work with a highly motivated R&D staff team in Eindhoven, Drachten, China, Singapore, and other functions spread out in various locations.

Your primary work location is at the High Tech Campus in Eindhoven. This flexible role offers you the opportunity to work with international teams, while benefiting from a hybrid working model (spend at least 3 days working from the office and up to 2 days from home).

You have key relationships with

  • R&D and Patient Safety & Quality: leverage the assigned resources to execute the assigned projects and program.

  • Global Consumer Marketing: collaborate to co-lead and shape the execution of the category's Value Proposition Creation through AD, PDLM, and Lifecycle Management projects.

  • Integrated Supply Chain, Procurement, and Supply Quality Engineering coordinate for an effective design transfer and supply chain strategy at optimal cost + quality + delivery levels, either for Philips in-house factories, external manufacturers, and the various tiers of prescribed vendors.

To succeed in this role, you should have the following skills and experience

  • University Education in Mechanics/Material Science/Industrial Engineering/ Mechatronics/BioMedical Engineering.

  • Very solid experience in Project/Program Management leading role, preferably PMP certified, combined with established business acumen and a strong bias for action.

  • At least 10 years of solid experience in various R&D new product development, project/program management, supply chain, or quality leadership roles, preferably in a multinational corporation environment and with overseas assignments

  • Proven experience developing consumer-related products from concept development to market launch with key involvement in the industrialization phase, preferably in an engineering-based fast-moving consumer goods industry and/or mass-scale medical device industry.

  • Strong communicator and relationship-builder within multidisciplinary, multicultural, and multi-location environments with a proven track record for developing, leading, and influencing high-performance development teams and high-trust relationships, including during times of escalations.

  • Able to navigate and manage organizational complexity and drive efficiency and effectiveness, being a thought leader. Preferably with previous people manager experience.

  • You have strong analytical, problem-solving, and change management skills, excellent communication and relationship-building skills, and are fluent in English.
