Description

Robert Half is looking for a Property Accountant for a long-term opportunity with a well-known real estate investment management company.

As a Property Accountant, you will play a critical role in overseeing the financial operations of properties, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency in all accounting processes. You will be responsible for managing property financials, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting, while maintaining strong relationships with property managers and stakeholders. This is an exciting opportunity for a detail-oriented professional with a strong accounting background and a passion for real estate.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage all aspects of property accounting, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, and general ledger entries.

  • Prepare monthly financial statements, variance analysis, and cash flow projections for assigned properties.

  • Review and analyze property budgets and forecasts, identifying opportunities for cost savings and revenue enhancement.

  • Coordinate with property managers and leasing teams to ensure accurate and timely billing, rent collections, and tenant reconciliations.

  • Perform monthly reconciliations of bank accounts, tenant accounts, and other property-related accounts.

  • Assist in year-end audit preparations and provide support to auditors as needed.

  • Maintain compliance with GAAP and company accounting policies and procedures.

  • Participate in ad-hoc projects and initiatives to support company goals and objectives.

Requirements

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.

3+ years of experience in property accounting or real estate finance.

CPA or CPA candidate preferred.

Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Yardi, MRI) and Microsoft Excel.

Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data and identify trends.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.

Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.

Knowledge of real estate accounting principles and practices.

Experience with property management software is a plus.
